We are back at the Westin in warm Fort Lauderdale, Florida! (My grandma is over here counting her SPG points – I think she’s obsessed.)
It’s Thanksgiving Break and we are here for some warm sunny weather and lots of swimming. I had my grandma call ahead to make sure the pool heater was working. No, I wasn’t bugging them. The last time we were here the pool heater broke and the water was freezing. That was just after Hurricane Matthew in October.
When we arrived we were greeted by my favorite check-in girl, Jessica. She even remembered my name! How cool is that? Okay, so she remembered my grandma’s name too, but I like feeling special. The front desk manager, Alin, waived our resort fees and gave us a nice high level ocean view room as an extra bonus from our previous stay.
Okay, so about this hotel… I love the beds. They are so comfortable. Yes, the Westin truly has “Heavenly Beds” just like they say. The room was really nice and it had a cool rainfall shower head in the bathroom. It also had a weird window that you could open so you could go to the bathroom and look out and if you left the curtain open you could see the ocean. I know it’s crazy, right?! My grandma told me to shut the window as no one wants to see you go to the bathroom. Ha Ha Ha!
The pool is nice. It’s mostly over my head and it’s just a regular pool. They said it’s an infinity pool but it’s not really, sure it’s filled to the very top… but that’s not the same. The water is heated and the staff even provide pool toys, beach/sand toys, boogie boards, umbrellas, free sunscreen and nice big beach towels. The pool staff is awesome – big shout out to Demetrius, Judy & Ray! You guys rock!
This trip we really did spend most of our time at the pool and the beach. We’d wake up, swim, have lunch, swim, relax, swim… you get the idea.
The reason we chose this hotel is because it is really easy to get from the pool to the beach. The photo above is of the walkway that leads across and then you take an elevator right down to the beach. On the street level there are lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
The wrap up: We like this hotel. We love the staff. The best time to stay here is in October & November – the rates are between $100-$130 at that time. Peak season (December-March) expect to pay $200-$250 per night. Resort fee: $35 Valet Parking: $39

*We were not paid or compensated in any way whatsoever for this review. We paid full price and this is purely our unbiased opinion. The waived resort fees and better room were because of issues we experienced on a previous visit to the hotel.
