TBT: Keeneland Spring Meet in Lexington, Kentucky – Horseracing
February 23, 2017
Fun at the Keeneland Spring Meet in Lexington, Kentucky with my brother, Colt. Do you like horses? Have you ever been to the horse races? It’s so fun, especially at Keeneland Racecourse. Did you know it’s called the Sport of Kings?
Throw Back Thursday: April 2015 – I was 4 years old!
You can watch the horses race on the grass and the dirt. You can stand right at the rail and be up close and personal. That’s my favorite spot to be. Sure, they have seats too, but who wants to sit down when it’s exciting! I yell a lot! I scream “Go baby go!” and if I know a horse’s name I’ll yell that too. Everyone in the crowd is yelling and there is so much excitement in the air.
When we’re not watching the horses race we’re watching them in the post parade. That’s where the horses walk around and you can get a good look at them before the race. You can see who is lazy, fired up or might even have a slight limp. It helps if you watch this because it will help you pick the winner – if you choose to place a bet. I’m too young to place real bets, so we bring dollars and bet among ourselves. Last time I won $12!! Oh yea, I did good that day.
My entire family loves Thoroughbred horses and going to the races. My mom used to exercise Thoroughbred race horses at this very track before my brother and I were born. And my grandma, she used to work for Darley, which is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. See, I told you this is the Sport of Kings! Right?!
I can’t wait for the Spring Meet this year! It’s coming up very soon, less than 2 months away. I’m trying to talk my grandma into going for opening day. I have to get a new outfit too, as I’ve totally outgrown this very cool outfit I wore this time.
Here’s a fantastic video made by Keeneland which gives you more information. Seriously, you should visit at least once in your lifetime. Lexington, Kentucky is a beautiful place to visit and you can even set up visits to some of the really big horse farms.
